Manchester United's pursuit of strengthening their attacking lineup has led them to a surprising yet experienced option. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, the 34-year-old striker from Bayern Munich, has reportedly given the green light to a move to Manchester United on a six-month loan deal. This development comes as Manchester United seeks to relieve the young Rasmus Hojlund's scoring burden, following his challenging adaptation to the rigors of the Premier League.

Manchester United had a busy summer transfer window, with the high-profile acquisition of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for a staggering £72 million. However, the Red Devils' quest to bolster their attacking prowess was no secret, especially after missing out on Harry Kane, who opted to join Bayern Munich, and Napoli's Victor Osimhen. Despite a promising start in the Champions League group stage, Hojlund struggled to find his footing in the Premier League, going goalless in 14 league appearances before finally breaking his duck in a Boxing Day clash against Aston Villa.

With six goals in all competitions, Hojlund currently shares the top scorer title at Manchester United with Scott McTominay. Meanwhile, the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Antony have contributed five goals each. Martial's future at the club seems uncertain, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, prompting Manchester United to explore experienced striker options to ease the pressure on the 20-year-old Hojlund.

Initially, there was debate surrounding the potential arrival of Mehdi Taremi from Porto. However, Inter Milan is now said to be leading the race for the Iranian international, leaving Manchester United in search of alternative striking options.

In an unexpected turn of events, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has reportedly agreed to join Manchester United. The 34-year-old striker is prepared to make the move on a six-month loan deal after struggling to reach his peak form at Bayern Munich this season. Choupo-Moting was an unexpected replacement for the departed Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, where he managed to score 17 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions, earning himself a one-year contract extension.

However, with Harry Kane making a strong start at Allianz Arena, Choupo-Moting's playing time has been limited. The Cameroonian national team striker has only found the net three times in 19 appearances and started in just three Bundesliga matches. Bayern Munich might open the door for his departure in the second half of the season, as coach Thomas Tuchel has the talented Mathys Tel as an option to replace Kane in case of injury.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is no stranger to English football, having previously played for Stoke City during the 2017-18 season. He recorded five goals and five assists in 30 appearances during his tenure in the top tier of English football.
